What is the cost?

The base cost of a birthday party package is $225.00. The package includes up to 10 guests, which includes children and chaperones. Other guests can be added to the party for an additional $10.00 per guest, up to a maximum of 15 guests. There is a minimum of one adult chaperone required for the booking.

What if I want to have more than 10 guests at my birthday party?

The base cost of a birthday party package includes up to 10 guests, which includes children and chaperones. Other guests can be added to the party for an additional $10.00 per guest, up to a maximum of 15 guests.

Unfortunately, due to room capacity limitations, we cannot allow more than 15 guests in total. This includes children and chaperones. We request that you confirm the total number of guests with us prior to your birthday party date. Any additional guests that arrive day-of are not guaranteed admittance to the party.

Are very young children (under 5) allowed into the birthday party?

The party programming is optimally designed for children between age 7 and 12. Younger children may not be able to enjoy the experience in the same way. However, younger children, including toddlers and infants being held by an adult, are still permitted, but will be counted as part of the 15-guest limit.

Does this package include general admission to the museum?

Yes, the birthday party package includes free general admission to the museum (not applicable to guided tours) for all guests if they would like to stay after the party is over. Parents/guardians dropping off their children but not staying for the party are eligible for a 20% discount on general admission to the museum. This offer may be redeemed at the Welcome Desk upon arrival, or by emailing reservations@diefenbunker.ca ahead of time.

When and where do we check in, and what can we expect when we arrive?

Birthday party guests should check in at the Welcome Desk inside the museum approximately 5 to 10 minutes before their birthday party is scheduled to begin. You will be directed to a waiting area near the Welcome Desk until everyone arrives, and your staff host will then take everyone downstairs to the party room. We will need all guests to be present before the group is taken to the party room.

During the summer months when our Guard House is open, let the museum staff in Guard House know that you are checking in for a birthday party, and they will direct you inside the museum. (Guard House is the small white building located just outside the museum’s main gates, across from the Carp Public Library.)

Parking at the museum is free. For more information on directions and parking, please see our website.

Can we have early access to the party room to decorate?

Unfortunately, we cannot allow early access to the party room. If you or your guests arrive early, our staff will direct you to a waiting area near the Welcome Desk where you can relax until your staff host takes everyone downstairs to the party room.

You are welcome to put up decorations in the party room after your staff host has taken you downstairs.

What does the birthday party schedule look like?

Your total program time is 2 hours. The first 1.5 hours will include facilitated programming led by our staff host. This includes creating a special spy identity, participating in a variety of spy-themed games and lessons, and a scavenger hunt throughout the museum. The last 30 minutes is your own time to use the party room. Some guests choose to open presents and eat cake or food during this time.

Below is a sample birthday party schedule. Exact timings and activities may vary.

Timing Activity

What should we bring with us?

We do not require that you bring anything with you aside from yourselves, but if you would like to open presents or eat food and cake during your scheduled party time, please consider bringing the following items:

  • Presents
  • Cake, food, and drinks (alcoholic beverages are not permitted)
  • Tablecloths, dishes, cutlery (disposable or otherwise)
  • Temporary decorations that can be put up with painter’s tape and taken down easily (e.g., balloons)
  • Indoor shoes (during the winter)
Does the museum provide food, refreshments, or cutlery?

The museum does not provide food or other refreshments as part of the birthday party package. You are welcome to bring your own food and snacks, or order food for delivery. We have a freezer and a fridge on-site in case you would like to store anything you bring, but we do not have dishes or cutlery available for use.

Please note that we strive to maintain a nut-free environment, and we have a strict No Open Flames policy (i.e., birthday candles) due to fire restrictions for our unique underground facility.

What if I would like to order food for delivery? Where can I order from?

We recommend that you place your order the day before your birthday party reservation, and request to have it delivered 45 minutes before the end of your party. For 10:00 a.m. birthday parties, that means delivery for 11:15 a.m., and for 1:00 p.m. timeslots, that means delivery for 2:15 p.m. You will need at least one adult chaperone available to pay and pick up the food at the museum’s front entrance.

Nearby pizza places include Carp Pizza and Village Pizza Carp. Please call your preferred food provider to confirm availability.

Are your birthday parties accessible?

Yes, we offer accessible birthday parties for guests with mobility concerns. Once you have made your booking online, please reach out to reservations@diefenbunker.ca and indicate the date and time of your birthday party booking, and we will make sure that your experience is fully accessible. For more information on the museum’s accessibility, please see our website.

Are your birthday parties offered in French?

We can usually accommodate a French birthday party with advance notice, but we cannot always guarantee French availability. Please email us at reservations@diefenbunker.ca with your request.

Is there an invitation I can share with my birthday party guests?

Yes! You can download this invitation template and fill out your party details to share with your guests. Either print out the invitation and write in the details or fill out the details in the PDF to share digitally.

Can we book a birthday party escape room?

Our regular birthday party programming is not an escape room, and the two activities are mutually exclusive. However, you are always welcome to book one of our escape rooms as a separate activity. To see availability and book, please visit Escape Manor’s website.

What if I need to reschedule or cancel my birthday party?

Cancellations and adjustments are accepted without penalty if they are communicated at least two weeks in advance of the reservation. Within two weeks, a 50% cancellation fee will apply. Emergency cancellations are subject to the approval of our Operations Manager.

All cancellations and adjustments must be communicated in writing to reservations@diefenbunker.ca.
