Plus\, to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Alexander Graham Bell’s groundbreaking first telephone call\, check out our interactive artifact table in the Cafeteria\, featuring a hands-on look at communication technologies used throughout the Diefenbunker’s operational years. \nAll activities are included in the cost of museum admission. \nReserve tickets \n\nDécouvrez comment le téléphone a transformé notre façon de communiquer. Ensuite\, faites preuve de créativité avec des décorations et des bricolages d’hiver ! \nFaites preuve de créativité avec nos activités manuelles sur le thème de l’hiver ! DESCRIPTION:Appreciate the diversity of Indigenous cultures through an interactive workshop where you’ll create a traditional Indigenous craft\, facilitated by Makatew Workshops. \nThe Diefenbunker values art as a means for expressing important personal connections with our history and its impacts that are still present today. Participate in a hands-on\, educational workshop where you’ll assemble a traditional Indigenous craft — a medicine bag — while learning about its history and significance. As you craft\, topics like truth and reconciliation and cultural appropriation vs. appreciation will be introduced\, in an open environment to ask questions. \nThis event is in collaboration with Makatew Workshops. Advance registration is required\, as spots are limited. DESCRIPTION:Image: Canadian Forces Station (CFS) Carp — Winter Carnival 1980 \nDelight in winter traditions with snow sculpting\, tug of war\, and a temporary exhibit on the Diefenbunker’s historic Winter Carnival. \nDuring its time as a military base\, the Diefenbunker held an annual Winter Carnival. Participate in these historic activities\, with a modern twist — snow sculpting\, snow painting\, or traversing the snowy trails of the scenic bunker hillside. Warm up indoors with free hot chocolate or by exploring a temporary exhibit highlighting the traditions of the Winter Carnival through stories\, videos\, and artifacts. \nOutdoor activities are free. The temporary exhibit is included in the cost of museum admission. \nReserve tickets \n\nParticipez à des traditions hivernales comme sculpture sur neige et tir à la corde en apprenant à propos du carnaval d’hiver historique du Diefenbunker. \nÀ l’époque où il servait de base militaire\, le Diefenbunker organisait un carnaval d’hiver annuel. Participez à ces activités historiques dans la neige : la sculpture ou une promenade sur les sentiers de la colline pittoresque du bunker.
