International Museum Day has been celebrated around the world since 1977. This day is an occasion to raise awareness on how important museums are in the development of society. The Diefenbunker certainly fits the bill as the structure itself was dedicated to the Continuity of Government, thus the development of Canadian society after nuclear warfare...
Being geo-thermically conditioned, and having a six month lag in our temperature regulation, the Diefenbunker is a cool place to visit on a hot summer day. This year, we offer FREE guided tours every hour on the hour for those who want to take refuge in our Cold War lair during Doors Open Ottawa. Don't miss out on this opportunity!
June 17th marks the celebration of fatherhood and some more great times in the ultimate man cave! Join us as the volunteers from the Swords and Ploughshares Museum role in with their heavy-duty M41 5 ton 6x6 artillery tractor (‘52) and their nuclear capable 155mm M114A1 (C1) Howitzer (‘56). |

On June 2nd and 3rd, the Diefenbunker is happy to open its doors to visitors as the hot sun scorches down on the city.
