CARP, ON: Diefenbunker, Canada’s Cold War Museum will be awarding the prizes for “Lessons from the Cold War: A Youth Writing Contest,” on Sunday May 18.

A prize of $1000 will be awarded to the essay or creative writing piece that best illustrates how the Cold War has affected contemporary national or global politics and/or society from among the submissions received from high school students across the region. A two-member panel of celebrity judges, author Tim Wynne-Jones and Major-General (Retired) Lewis Mackenzie, C.M., CMM, MSC (and bar), O.Ont , CD will select the winning entries.

The awards ceremony will take place May 18 at 12:30 pm at the Diefenbunker, Canada’s Cold War Museum, 3911 Carp Road, Carp, Ontario. The event will include museum tours of the Diefenbunker for those interested, followed by a reception and the award presentation. Please rsvp to administration@diefenbunker.ca.

This contest is part of the Diefenbunker’s 10th anniversary celebrations in 2008.
