Father’s Day in the ultimate man cave! | June 18

On Father’s Day, we’re offering exclusive machine room tours 4 storeys underground. The machine room is not usually open to the public so this is your chance to show Dad a really amazing piece of Canadian history.

Machine Room Tours will start at 11:30am and 2:30pm.
Space is limited, please call the museum to reserve your spot (613-839-0007) or send us a PM. Please note: You must wear closed toed shoes and a hard hat will be provided.

We have many other activities going on Father’s Day too, including our regular guided tours, audio tours, and self guiding.

We’re excited to have FIRE TRUCKS onsite from 12pm – 2pm.

We are delighted that astronomers from the Royal Astronomical Society of …Canada (RASC) will be joining us. They’ll be bringing safe, specialized telescopes and will share extraordinary views of the Sun.

What can you expect to see? According to RASC organizer, Mike Moghadam, the solar telescopes will allow observers to see different wavelengths of light coming from the Sun enabling observers to see details of the Sun that are not possible to see with the eye alone.

You will see gaseous prominences that extend several hundred thousand kilometers from the Sun in to space. They are so big that you could fit dozens of Earths side-by-side inside a prominence. You may even see Sunspots which are magnetically-active, cooler regions of the Sun. They will also show you daytime views of Venus through their telescopes.

Wraps n’ Stuff food truck will be onsite to provide food all day. So come and stay for the entire afternoon.

Everyone is welcome at this family-friendly event.
